Will someone steal your game camera? Well, we would like to think we all live in a world where that wouldn't happen. But, we don't. Yes, someone could steal your game camera. How can you prevent this? Well, I think you have to be a bit creative. We've started a few thoughts about that.... perhaps you can add something to the plan.
Put an identifying (and non-removable) mark inside the camera, photograph the camera and write a description. File this in a drawer. If someone steals your camera, you could show this to local pawn shops and neighbors. Someone might recognize it.
Post a notice inside the camera that states "If this camera was stolen, please be aware you are probably on file on our other camera that was in the same location. Call us and return the camera, no questions asked, and we'll call it even." --If they don't call you, they might at least come "looking" for the other camera!!
In some places you can buy a transmitter to put into your dog or cat. Get one for the camera.
If your camera is in a high risk area, using two that do photograph within sight of one another could catch your "theif" on camera.
If a theif immediatly pawns the camer, you might photograph yourself holding a note "If the person who brought this camera to you doesn't look like this, please report it stolen." Who knows... might work.
